Situation in Galaha calm
The students having completed their march towards the Galaha Junction are now shouting slogans against the Minister of Higher Education and the establishment of private universities.The students have been prevented from moving ahead due to the barricading of the road by the Army.
Sources say that there is still heavy police and anti riot squad presence in the area. The Army have moved out from the near vicinity and have stationed themselves at the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.
It is unclear if the students plan to move ahead despite the barricades. Heavy traffic prevails. (HF)
