Medical Council registrar assaulted

The GMOA yesterday alleged that Dr. M. J. Nonis, registrar of the Sri Lanka Medical Council was assaulted outside his residence in the Moratuwa police area around 7.00 pm.
Dr. Upul Gunasekera told The Island that two persons had pounced on the doctor as he got off his car after returning home from office. "We are on our way to his residence," the GMOA official said.
Dr. S. Marasinghe said that Dr. Nonis had refused to leave his residence fearing for his life and the GMOA was taking up the issue with authorities.
